A Message from the Center Director.....
Lehigh University's Center for Polymer Science and
Engineering (CPSE) offers a unique environment for graduate studyone
that is large enough to boast world-class professors and research facilities,
but is small enough to give each graduate student individualized attention.
The CPSE is a teaching-oriented center with faculty
members from the departments of Chemical
Engineering, Chemistry,
Materials Science and
Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering and Mechanics, and
Physics. The CPSE
also serves as an umbrella organization for the research-oriented
Emulsion
Polymers Institute and the faculty from the Engineering Polymers Laboratory
of the Center for Advanced Materials and
Nanotechnology.
CPSE courses cover polymer synthesis and
characterization, physical polymer science, organic polymer science, engineering
behavior, rheology, polymer blends and composites, polymer processing, emulsion
polymers, polymer interfaces, and colloid science, among others. The Center has
23 faculty from the participating departments, approximately 76 full-time,
part-time, and distance education (taking courses via satellite) graduate
students, several research scientists, and a number of post-doctoral students
and visiting scientists.
Through CPSE's participating departments, graduate
students can earn the Master of Science (M.S.), Master of Engineering (M.E.),
and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in polymer science and engineering.
Students may also elect to earn degrees in their participating home department
while emphasizing polymer courses and research. Both advanced undergraduate and
graduate courses are offered in polymer science and engineering. |
